R12.2 Changing APPS or APPLSYS Password on R12.2 Instance   13 comments

Last Night one of my friend called me and asked how to change the apps or applsys password on R12.2

Here are steps:

Presently Application is working normal

1

Now lets change APPLSYS password

Important: These steps must be carried out on the run file system.

1. Shut down the application tier services using the

$INST_TOP/admin/scripts/adstpall.sh

2

2. Change the APPLSYS password.

FNDCPASS apps/<existing apps passwd>  0 Y system/<system password> SYSTEM APPLSYS <new apps passwd>

3

FNDCPASS apps/apps 0 Y system/manager SYSTEM APPLSYS testpwd

3. Start AdminServer using the $INST_TOP/admin/scripts/adadminsrvctl.sh

script. Do not start any other application tier services.

4

4. Change the “apps” password in WLS Datasource as follows:

  • Log in to WLS Administration Console.

http:/r122.localdomain:7002/console

5

  • Click Lock & Edit in Change Center.
  • 6
  • In the Domain Structure tree, expand Services, then select Data Sources.
  • 7
  • On the “Summary of JDBC Data Sources” page, select EBSDataSource
  • On the “Settings for EBSDataSource” page, select the Connection Pool tab.
  • 8
  • Enter the new password in the “Password” field.
  • Enter the new password in the “Confirm Password” field.
  • Click Save.
  • 9
  • Click Activate Changes in Change Center.
  • 10

Check whether you are able to connect to db using apps

sqlplus apps/<newpassword> from application tier.

Before Starting all the services. Run Autoconfig.

cd $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME

sh adautocfg.sh

Now start the services.

  • Start all the application tier services using the
  • $INST_TOP/admin/scripts/adstrtal.sh script.

11

6. Verify the WLS Datastore changes as follows:

  • Log in to WLS Administration Console.
  • In the Domain Structure tree, expand Services, then select Data Sources.
  • On the “Summary of JDBC Data Sources” page, select EBSDataSource.
  • On the “Settings for EBSDataSource” page, select Monitoring > Testing.
  • Select “oacore_server1”.
  • Click Test DataSource
  • Look for the message “Test of EBSDataSource on server oacore_server1 was successful”.

Upgrade R12.2 to R12.2.3   22 comments

In this post i will list out the steps for upgrading R12.2 to R12.2.3

Note:

If you are freshly installing R12.2. and downloading the stage from edelivery then you will get stardCD version 12.2.0.46, also  i would suggest you all to download startCD version 12.2.0.47 it includes lot of updates which will be helpful in reducing the R12.2.3 upgrade time. startCD version 12.2.0.47 is a patch with #17445880.

So when you are downloading the Media R12.2 Software,  you will get stardCD  12.2.0.46  from edelivery. In your downloads include new startdCD version 12.2.0.47 patch #17445880

1

Once you build the stage using buildstage.sh we need to update the Start Here DVD, uncompress the patch in the main staging area to overwrite the startCD directory.

unzip -o p17445880_R12_GENERIC.zip let the existing 12.2.0.46 get overwritten by 12.2.0.47 startCD patch

Now you must run the buildStage.sh script and select option 2. Copy new patches to current stage area from the Build Stage Menu:

Build Stage Menu
——————————————————
1.     Create new stage area
2.     Copy new patches to current stage area.
3.     Display existing files in stage TechPatches.
4.     Exit menu

Enter your choice [4]: 2

This will copy the latest technology patches to the shiphome. Failure to do this will cause the installation to fail during the Oracle Home patching phase.

If you dont download latest stardCD Patch 12.2.0.47 then as per pre-upgrade steps for R12.2.3 we need to apply below patches which are there in 12.2.0.47

Complete the online patching cycle by running the following commands in the order shown.

Source the run edition environment file:

$ . $RUN_BASE/EBSapps/appl/APPS$CONTEXT_NAME.env

  1. $ adop phase=finalize
  2. $ adop phase=cutover
  3. $ adop phase=cleanup

Step4:

 Post-Update Steps

  1. Synchronize file systems

Synchronize the file systems using the command shown below. This action will copy the new run edition code and configuration to the other file system, to help the next online patching cycle complete faster.

$ adop phase=fs_clone

This finishes the R12.2.0 upgrade to R12.2.3

Let me know if anyone has any questions on this…..
