R12.1.1 Install on OEL5.7 64Bit   Leave a comment

Many of you have already know how to Install R12.1.1 on OEL(5.x)64-bit. This is one more of them……….

 The following packages must be installed from the Oracle Linux 5.7 or RHEL 5.7 distribution media on both application and database tiers:

Additionally, the following RPMs are required for an 11gR1 Database (which is bundled with the 12.1.1 release) on the database tier:

Download below RPM’s from https://oss.oracle.com/projects/compat-oracle/files/Enterprise_Linux/

  • openmotif21-2.1.30-11.EL5.i3861
  • xorg-x11-libs-compat-6.8.2-1.EL.33.0.1.i386
  • Kernel parameters (Related to Oracle E-Business Suite – R12) – After making any changes inthe system file, use “/sbin/sysctl -p” command tor restart the system to invoke the new settings. vi /etc/sysctl.conf
    • kernel.shmmax = 68719476736
    • kernel.shmall = 4294967296
    • kernel.sem =  250 32000 100 128
    • fs.file-max = 6815744
    • net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 9000 65500
    • net.core.rmem_default = 262144
    • net.core.wmem_default = 262144
    • net.core.rmem_max = 4194304
    • net.core.wmem_max = 1048576
  • $ vi /etc/security/limits.conf
    • Added below entries in the file
      • hard         nofile      65536
      • soft           nofile      4096
      • hard         noproc   16384
      • soft           noproc    2047

vi /etc/hosts

configure host entries

127.0.0.1                  localhost.localdomain           localhost

192.168.56.20        r12-rac1-localdomain           r12-rac1

groupadd dba

useradd -g dba oracle

useradd -g dba applmgr

mkdir -p /u01/oracle/

chmod -R 777 /u01

[root@r12-rac1 ~]# unlink /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6
[root@r12-rac1 ~]# ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6.1 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6
[root@r12-rac1 ~]#

I have run into some issues but i was able to resolve. One of the issue is below one.
